If you are looking for a good general searching pattern and you like the “hook up” characteristics added by using a jig hook, then this Hare’s Ear is a good bet. This fly is weighted, and utilizes an Allen jig hook in size 8. This is on the larger side and I will regularly tie it down to a size 12.
