Mountain Bayou Kaufman Stone

Pretty true to the original Kaufman Stonefly. This one is tied with some craft dubbing from Mountain Bayou dubbing company. This black dubbing has some awesome flash components, without being loud. It has little hints of red, blue, and purple flash mixed in.

I prefer a tightly noodled body with a gold rib. Then I switch to a dubbing loop for a buggy thorax. I use ThinSkin for the segments.

This is a classic pattern for trout in any fishery that gets a stone fly hatch, but it absolutely crushes Steelhead on the Pere Marquette. I had a day during a recent spring with 7 hookups in just a couple hours. Every one that got close enough to get a look at had taken the stone fly and ignored the egg that I was drifting in tandem.

Here is the video if you want to tie it yourself!
