The Great Lakes Deceiver has many different uses. It can entice bites on the strip or the swing, its large profile moves a lot of water. This version utilizes the Fish Skull Fish Spine articulation shanks to create a massive 8″ streamer with 3 articulation points. I tie this pattern for King Salmon, but it would be equally effective for any big predator. I’ve never fished for Musky, but I would bring this pattern along if I thought they were in the area. This fly is at home on still water stripping for pike and bass, in the surf searching for Kings or lake run Brown Trout, as well as on the river fluttering in the current. Fire Tiger is probably the most popular color for most species, and Smallmouth love the yellow in the Brown Trout variation. The Rainbow Trout color works well in the right situations, and the Black/Chartreuese and Chartreuese/White are killers in warm or stained water.
